GDW RD 250 Manual Turret Lathe
Description
Fast, Repeatable Second-Operation Turning
The GDW RD 250 is a manual turret lathe built in Germany for fast, economical production of small turned parts. It is one of GDW’s most popular machines and handles second-operation work, complete machining of simple parts, and rework in production and maintenance shops.
Its 6-station manual turret holds six tools on 3/4 in shanks, so the operator can drill, bore, ream, tap and turn in sequence without changing tools. A hand-operated infeed and cut-off slide finishes each part in the same setup. The stepless main drive runs from 60 to 3,000 rpm, with an optional 90–4,500 rpm range, and the standard collet chucking device works with draw-in or push-out collets.
The precision spindle runs in an adjustable cylindrical roller bearing plus preloaded angular-contact bearings, and a vibration-damped direct drive with a magnetic brake stops it quickly. The cast-iron slides have scraped guideways. Optional accessories include an automatic feed drive for the turret slide and automatic thread cutting. A compact 51 × 28 in footprint and a base that holds the coolant tank, a removable chip tray and a tool cabinet let the RD 250 fit into almost any cell.
