GDW LZ 280VS Premium Precision Lathe
Description
The Ultimate in Turning Comfort and Precision
The GDW LZ 280VS heads the comfortline series, GDW’s premium range of precision lathes. It is built in Germany for toolrooms, mold and fixture shops, medical technology, aerospace suppliers and R&D labs, and it is aimed at machinists who want the highest accuracy with as little effort as possible.
The 10 hp AC spindle drive runs a stepless speed range of 30 to 5,000 rpm and holds that speed constant under load, so finishes stay consistent from roughing through high-speed finishing. A built-in braking module shortens start and stop times. Feeds are also stepless, through a maintenance-free gearbox, and the operator enters feeds and threads graphically on the panel: metric, inch, module and diametral pitch, with no change gears.
The high-resolution 17-inch color panel holds technology data for 99 tools. It also provides an oriented spindle stop by teach-in, a C-axis on the main spindle and plain-text status messages. The bed is induction-hardened cast iron, the lead screws are hardened and ground with split nuts, and the slideways are wedge-adjustable, so the machine keeps its precision for decades. Standard equipment includes a monitored chuck guard, a sliding splash guard with safety glass and automatic handwheel disengagement.
